Your pet is a beloved companion; a precious and unique part of your family. For that reason, you want only the very best for your furry friend. At Saint Francis Hospital for Animals, we believe that the best way to deliver that level of care is by treating our patients as if they were our own pets. It is from this very concept that Tillie’s Rule was developed.
Tillie was a very special animal – one who gave so freely and loved so deeply. She was an inspiration to Dr. Parendo and became an integral part of his family. Although she is no longer with us, she lives on through our hospital philosophy. The personal connection we shared with Tillie, and our own animal family members, is what drives us to always do our very best.
Every decision we make is guided in some way by Tillie’s Rule. Before performing any procedure, test or treatment, we always take the time to consider whether it’s in the best interest of the patient. We ask ourselves, is this what we would have recommended for Tillie? This helps to ensure that our care always places the needs of our patients first. It also allows us to continue to honor Tillie’s legacy with each and every interaction we have.
