Meet the Team

Office Staff

  • Jennifer

Jen has been at St. Francis Hospital for Animals since 2002. Now known as “Captain” of our team, Jen started out part-time and quickly grew to love the veterinary field. She enjoys seeing the animals, working with computers, and helping out our customers. Jen is best known for keeping the office running smoothly, and offering guidance and support for the rest of the staff. At home, she likes baking, cooking, trail walking, and spending time with her husband, daughter, 3 cats, and dog.

  • Nicole

Nicole joined the team at St. Francis in 2020 and has enjoyed getting to know our clients
and patients. A lifelong animal lover, she is always excited to meet all the different breeds and
personalities that come through the door! Outside of work, Nicole tutors high school students in
English and SAT exam prep. She loves reading, traveling near and abroad, and spending time
with family and friends. Nicole collects Pez Dispensers and lives in Patchogue with Teddy the dog and Tybalt the cat.

  • Elizabeth

Elizabeth was born and raised in Wisconsin, where she spent her summers working on a horse ranch and petting zoo. She enjoyed the antics of the animals there, especially “Sir Samuel,” a mini-pony that led a daily parade. Elizabeth grew up with pets of her own and was a pet-sitter for friends and family. She is a big fan of golden retrievers, like her old pal Buddy. Since moving to Long Island in 2020 and joining the St. Francis team in February 2021, Elizabeth has enjoyed seeing all the critters who come through the door, and loves that the hospital feels like a family. Elizabeth is passionate about running, traveling, music, and collecting rocks.

Veterinary Assistants

  • Brianna

Brianna has always loved animals and began riding horses at age 9. Growing up, she participated in western competitions and barrel racing. She graduated from the Suffolk County BOCES grooming program in 2010 and began working as a veterinary assistant shortly thereafter. She is currently in school to earn her veterinary technician license and looks forward to growing her skills and expertise within our practice. She loves puppy and kitten visits the most. Brianna enjoys country music, line dancing, sushi, and spoiling her papillon, Lilah, and Taquito the chihuahua.

  • Samantha

Sam began working at St. Francis in 2011. Ever since seeing the movie Balto as a kid she has loved animals and always wanted to help them! A constant presence on staff for over 10 years, Sam earned her Veterinary Assistant’s Certification with BOCES in 2011 and worked first with the Indrieri team before Dr. Parendo took over the practice. Outside of the hospital, one of Sam’s greatest accomplishments has been as a Field Hockey player, captaining her high school team, playing through college and into adulthood. Her motto is “the flatter the face, the cuter the cat.” She lives in Lake Grove with her fiancé and her own smooshy-faced cat, Christine.

Licensed Nurses/Technicians

  • Denise

An Oakdale native, Denise got her start in the veterinary field at St. Francis in the early 90's. She later spent some years working in specialty veterinary medicine before returning to St. Francis where her passion for general practice and a personal touch could flourish. A licensed veterinary technician, Denise most enjoys creating a relationship with the clients and pets and watching them grow over the years. She lives in West Sayville with her family, her dog George, and 4 cats. Outside of work she loves spending time with her kids and baking delicious and creative cakes.

  • Sydney

Sydney has always been interested in veterinary medicine and science. She went to school for forensics before pursuing her Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and her Vet Tech License. She joined the St. Francis team in 2018 as an assistant and has grown and learned with the practice. While completing her licensing, she interned at the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island and the Paumanok Animal Hospital in Patchogue, bringing her new skills and experience back to St. Francis. Syd loves knowing that she is helping the patients who come through our door. Her Irish-Doodle Beau, and Pomeranian Buster are her world.

  • Alex

LVT Alex grew up in Manhattan with a border terrier and several horses over the years. Her early interest in equestrian sports would eventually become a passion for agility and dog sports as an adult. She graduated with honors from Suffolk’s Vet Tech school in 2012 and rejoined the team at St. Francis in 2020. Within the hospital, Alex most enjoys surgery and anesthesia because they require careful skill and attention. She is motivated to make sure that animals receive the proper care they need. Alex is owned by 3 boxers --Stark, Boozy, and Rue-- all sport and agility competitors. She loves the boxer breed for its silliness!

  • Carlton

Carlton has been a part of the St. Francis family for over a decade. After 10 years in the Army and a career as a private investigator, he began working with animals at the Humane Society in Savannah, GA. His work in the veterinary field continued at the Bethpage Animal Hospital for 9 years and later as a Radiologist Supervisor at the Center for Specialized Veterinary Care in Westbury. Here at St. Francis, he is known for his jokes and his experience with animals. When he's not at work, Carlton likes writing, kayaking, camping, hunting, and fishing. He is a proud father of 3 and has 4 grandkids.

We look forward to hearing from you
