Meet the Team

Practice Manager

  • Jennifer
    Manager

Jen has been at St. Francis Hospital for Animals since 2002. She began working with the Schmeiser/Indrieri team and helped transition the practice to new ownership in 2014. She has worked in emergency vet care but grew to love the world of general practice veterinary care. She enjoys seeing the animals, working with computers, and helping out our customers. Jen is best known for keeping the office running smoothly, and offering guidance and support for the rest of the staff. At home, she likes baking, cooking, trail walking, and spending time with her husband, daughter, cat, and dog.

LVT/Licensed Veterinary Technician

  • Denise

An Oakdale native, Denise got her start in the veterinary field at St. Francis in the early 90's. She later spent some years working in specialty veterinary medicine before returning to St. Francis where her passion for general practice and a personal touch could flourish. A licensed veterinary technician, Denise most enjoys creating a relationship with the clients and pets and watching them grow over the years. She lives in West Sayville with her family, her dog George, and the cats. Outside of work she loves spending time with her kids and baking delicious and creative cakes.

  • Cynthia

Cynthia worked as a veterinary technician and office manager at Sachem Animal Hospital for almost 20 years before making a move to St. Francis in 2023. Outside of work at the animal hospital, she whelps puppies for the Guide Dog Foundation and has helped birth hundreds of babies destined to help their humans lead safer and more independent lives. Cynthia is also a licensed phlebotomist and ultrasound technician for humans! She brings years of experience and knowledge to our team here at St. Francis. Her favorite part of working in animal medicine is performing efficient tech services like pulling blood. She lives in Nesconset with her family, dog “Gus” and cat “Charcoal.”

  • Veronica

Ronnie has been working as a licensed vet tech since 2001. She started out as a pet-sitter, then worked in general practice until 2005. Veronica then began an ultrasound program (for humans!) while working in veterinary specialty: internal medicine and radiology. For a brief time she worked as an ultrasound tech until returning to vetmed and has not looked back since! Her passion is diagnostic radiology, as well as surgery and anesthesia. General practice is where she belongs, caring for the doggies and kitties and their people. She lives in Ronkonkoma with her family and cat.

Veterinary Assistants

  • Samantha

Sam began working at St. Francis in 2011. Ever since seeing the movie Balto as a kid she has loved animals and always wanted to help them! A constant presence on staff for over 12 years, Sam earned her Veterinary Assistant’s Certification with BOCES in 2011 and worked first with the Indrieri team before Dr. Parendo took over the practice. Outside of the hospital, one of Sam’s greatest accomplishments has been as a Field Hockey player, captaining her high school team, playing through college and into adulthood. Her motto is “the flatter the face, the cuter the cat.” She lives in Lake Grove with her husband and her own smooshy-faced cat, Christine. Go San José Sharks!

  • Chris Ann

Chris Ann completed the Veterinary Technician program at St. Pete Junior College in Florida. She previously worked at East Islip Vet and then at the Jericho Animal Hospital for 13 years. She has worked part-time here at St. Francis since 2022, filling meds in our pharmacy, running appointments, handling tech services, and assisting with triage and surgery as needed. Chris Ann loves to travel and ski with her family. Her favorite part of working in the animal field is that her patients don’t talk back! She lives in Great River with her husband, daughters, and handsome pup Charlie.

  • Ryan

Ryan completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Binghamton University in 2023. He is currently building his experience in the veterinary field at St. Francis Hospital for Animals while he prepares to attend vet school. He has recently been accepted to several DVM programs and looks forward to starting school in Fall 2024. Before joining the team at St. Francis, he volunteered at an Alpaca farm in upstate NY, assisted at an animal hospital in Binghamton, and interned at a zoo in Belize while studying abroad in January 2023. He wants to become a veterinarian to help as many animals as he possibly can. Ryan lives in Babylon with his cat, Benji and his bearded dragon, Chad.

  • Cassidy

Cassidy has been working with animals since age 15 when she was employed at Country Critters in Patchogue. She completed an Animal Science program through BOCES in high school and in 2018 began working as a veterinary assistant at Sachem Animal Hospital. She was a kennel attendant, assisted with appointments, and helped out with reception as needed. Cassidy’s favorite part of working with animals is earning the trust of frightened patients. She loves learning more and plans to complete further veterinary schooling. Cassidy lives in Holbrook with 5 kitties and her bearded dragon, Mango!

Reception

  • Nicole

Nicole joined the team at St. Francis in 2020 and has enjoyed getting to know our clients and patients. A lifelong animal lover, she is always excited to meet all the different breeds and personalities that come through the door! Outside of St. Francis, she transcribes medical documents for human healthcare providers. She's a big fan of reading and loves spending time with her family and friends. Nicole collects Pez Dispensers and lives in Patchogue with Teddy the dog and the cats, Hamlet and Hero.

  • Caitlin

Catie is new to the veterinary field after spending 7 years working in early childhood education. She decided to work in vet reception because of her interest in animals and love of working with people. Catie joined the team at St. Francis in summer of 2023 and has enjoyed learning everything about our patients and meeting our clients. Outside of work, Catie spends time with her 5 little dogs and fiancé. She loves hiking, baking, cooking, and Animal Crossing.

  • Sarah

Sarah was born and raised in New Hampshire and moved to Long Island during the covid pandemic in 2020. She has jumped right in to the fast pace of NY, working in the veterinary field locally before coming on board at St Francis in the winter of 2023. Sarah loves golfing, snowmobiling, and fishing. Outside of work you can find her walking Larry the dog along the beach. Sarah is the mother of 2 and lives in Sayville with her family, Larry, and Tess the cat.
